Bob Shane, founding member of SF’s Kingston Trio, dies at 85

Bob Shane, the last original member of the Kingston Trio, who kept the famed San Francisco band’s harmonies and folk legend alive by touring with younger sidemen as the Kingston Trio long after his partners had quit, died Sunday, Jan. 26, in a hospice near his home in Phoenix.

Shane succumbed to pneumonia and other long-term health issues, said his wife, Bobbi Childress. He was 85.
