Jan. 1, 2013 I haven't drawn the sights in United States. For we haven't met the medieval buildings in US such as in Europe. However I have been thinking to draw America, and I searched from my photo album and decided to draw the bridge in San Francisco. Everybody images the Golden Gate Bridge. But the Bay Bridge's scene in the movie of 1973 "The Way We Were" was impressive to me. As you know, this bridge has two decks and each of them is one way road. Do you remember in the movie they changed the direction of one way? This is really a US movie. It is Oakland when we go across the bridge from San Francisco. Berkeley is located beyond Oakland. There is University of California, Berkeley. I led a study team from Japan to participate the technical seminar in Berkeley in 1984. After the seminar in daytime, members of the study team used to ride on BART to go to San Francisco every night. The main theme song "The Way We Were" sung by Barbra Streisand became a big hit. As usual, this is "New year's drawing for 2013". |
