Jimmy Webbは歌を書き、自分で弾き語りもする芸達者である。この歌を書いた翌年に”McArthur Park”という7分超の歌を書いた。当時のシングル盤には片面に収まらないほどの長い歌だった。

そんな珍しいソングライターに注目していた。

15年ほど前に彼のホームページができた。Guestbookがあったので書き込んでやったら、彼から宣伝のメールが送られるようになった。まだ、来日をしていない珍しい人だ。

恋人を１人残して旅に出るというトーチソングだが、情景が浮かんでくる歌詞が素晴らしい。
