ナット・キング・コールをはじめ古いシンガー達が唄っています。わたしはフォー・フレッシュメンのコーラスで初めて聴いてしびれた歌です。それを沢田靖司が1993年の彼の音楽生活３５周年リサイタルでビッグバンドをバックに唄いました。トロンボーンの福村博のアレンジは最高で、沢田靖司が感激して涙を流すほど素晴らしいものでした。歌もちょっとよそでは聞けない名唱です。

Nat King Cole and other old singers sang this song. I heard it by the 4 Freshmen's record at first time nearly 60 years ago. My friend, Yasushi Sawada sang at his 35 years Anniversary Recital in 1993. The arrangement of the Big Band by Hiroshi Fukumura was so great. Sawada's vocal performance was also beautiful one.

ピアノのジョン・ヒックスのカルテットが1998年、東京でスージー黒岩のライブの伴奏をしました。遅い時間から赤坂のリトル・マヌエラで打ち上げをやりました。スージーに呼ばれて一緒に行きました。そこで、彼を紹介されました。

In 1998, John Hicks Quartet came to Tokyo for the concert of Susie Kuroiwa. She called me to the afterglow held at Little Manuela and introduced him to me.

たまたま、彼のfavorite songが"A Beautiful Friendship"だというのです。「誰か知っているか」といって騒いでいます。知っているのは私一人で、一緒にやろうというので歌詞を２人で思い出しながらやってしまいました。いい思い出です。

John sat on the piano and said "Is anybody who knows 'A Beautiful Friendship'?". This song was his favorite song. I was the only one who knows this song, and we sang together remembering the lyrics. It's a nice memory.

この録音は2010年のものである。沢田バージョンで歌っている。
